Default Intake question.

One of the things that has been on my "want" list is an intake. Unfortunately, I'm fairly green when it comes to tuning cars as far as what to look for and what different types of intakes there are and what the difference between them is.

Two I have had my eye on for a while are:

Mugen High Performance Air intake and the AEM CAI.

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

I personally have the AEM CAI and I love it, I got a video of my exhaust sound on
and you can hear the suction of the intake in background....mind you I have a tanabe exhaust on too so that sound is from both, if you like I can record a video of sound from inside the engine bay so you can get better sound of it not from the exhaust point of view.

EDIT: Feel free to make a request for the sound or pics of the AEM, dont be shy I got a boring weekend ahead of me lol

I would say that 1200 for the mugen intake is pretty outrageous - You're paying an extra 8-900 bucks for the brand name. I don't think most intakes will show enormous performance increases - maybe 5-10hp tops, most don't even get that high

Black Label has had a lot of good things said about it- plus its a small company that hand makes everything, which is cool.

i personally kinda like the Black Label actually, cus it's a true CAI and not just a Short Ram like most of those listed above.

but since the rest of your car is MÜGEN I would keep it that way

^ Gotta a point - If you have the dollars and want to keep it pure - go with the Mugen - probably can't go wrong with it since it is Mugen -

I might be mistaken - I would think absolutely no worries about warranty etc... No Magnusun/Moss fights if something goes wrong... If the service department installs it?

Dang that Mugen intake looks too amazing for me but me personally i'm not a fan of cold air intakes, short ram sounds waaaayyyyyy better and is much safer, but like what they said earlier if you have the mula the get the Mugen
