Anyone checked if this modification is legal in California? I downloaded the CA Vehicle Code Section 5200-5206 and could not find a show stopper, except for this phrase... "5201. License plates shall at all times be securely fastened to the vehicle for which they are issued so as to prevent the plates from swinging and shall be mounted in a position to be clearly visible." With this mount it is not possible to see the plate from just forward of the passenger side bumper as you can when it is centered. I have a kit and installed it, and I am planning to take it by the CHP for an opinion. Any input out there? |

don't evo x come with offset plates from factory?
plate in front is a plate in front. don't think you should bother with chp.

Went to CHP today and showed an officer the mount on my Z. He said it was fine. The issue to watch out for is height off ground (base must be >=12inches), and that the plates don't block vehicle lights.
So I am trying it out. I mounted my plate with a frontward angle not flush with the body and not parallel to the grill. |

Thanks for the info mine should be here on Tuesday. I plan to run it flush with body. I come to Santa Barbara to visit my son. We should plan a CR-Z meet in our county because LA and SF is to far to go.
