I saw somewhere that mugen makes blue side mirrors and they are hydrophilic, are the t1R ones hydrophilic as well? i would love for the water to just run off when i wash it, im tired of water spots on my mirrors =(

Just throwing it out there. How hard would it be to convert them to heated mirrors? I have never looked into it, but couldnt you just take the heating element off of the stock one and rig it to the t1r mirrors?

Dunno.. The OEM's have a foam type of material between the mirror and back and of course the connectors and element.. Not sure that is a DIY I would take on..

Been on the fence about these ever since I got the car. There's plenty of times when I could've used a more open field of view. Apart from the infamous blind spot, cars in other lanes tend to completely fill the mirror which bothers me.

The only thing keeping me from buying a set is that the more "zoomed out" view scares me a little. I know everyone says you get used to it, but it still makes me a bit nervous about trying them.

Yea, the "zoomed out view" takes a little getting used to. But if you adjust it to where you can see the side of the car, provides the right perspective. I got used to it in about an hour. Was doing some merging (on Ramps) today, and never once had to look over my shoulder..

Here is a pic of the back of the stock mirror. The T1R is exactly the same less the heater element and ground. Simply hook the top in at an angle and then push in the bottom until is clicks in place and walla.

Hey Scotty I have some questions for you: Have you noticed any difference at night with headlight reflections? Also do you remember if the back of the T1R looked like it could be removed?

No real difference at night with reflections. Still just the distance thing to get used to which can be a little more difficult at night. But still way better than the blind spot. I also have tint @ 32.

Sorry, I didn't really look to see if the back could be removed before I slapped them on. If I get a chance I might try and pop one out and see.

Nah don't worry about removing the mirror (thanks for the offer). I was looking at getting these to help reduce headlights shinning into my eyes everynight (l have 15% tint on the doors). If I was going to get them I wondered if the glass was held in by glue (I'm assuming it is) or snapped into the housing. I was going to install a heater element in the T1R mirrors.

Good stuff, this is going on my birthday wish list depending on the price... I have to PM AJR Jay about it.

Also on my wishlist is the Spoon Blue Wide Rear View Mirror - CR-Z ZF1. I plan to finally get a CR-Z in January or February, and definitely want to eliminate the blind spot!
