Default Quiet performance?

I feel like this car could be really brought to life if the right modifications were done to it. However, I don't want to run around with a buzzing exhaust giving me a headache and, as one member put it, announcing to the world ever time I miss a shift. Has anyone installed some kind of exhaust system that doesn't make a bunch of noise (maybe like this: Megan Racing)? I'd really like something that maybe just gives me a deep, subtle hum; just enough to let you know it's not quite stock...

+1

If you do that with your stock exhausts, it shouldn't be too loud and you'll definitely get more power out of it.

We don't have them here, but is there a problem with passing emissions with that rear cat gone?

From what I read on other threads, it will pass a visual inspection since it doesn't throw a CEL, but that's it.

No, no.. it's the other way around. It'll pass plugin since it doesn't throw a CEL but it wont pass a visual unless the Tech doesn't know what he's looking at. Which, on our car, is a strong possibility.

I don't know of anyone here with a Test Pipe aka Down Pipe aka Cat Delete who has chimed in on having to have the CR-Z go through an emissions check. At this point, that is somewhat of an unknown. Since it is a Hybrid, I think it gets a free pass in most if not all states.
