A wage dispute has halted the production of Japanese auto maker Honda at its assembly plants in China. Workers at the Nanhai Honda Auto Parts Manufacturing Company in southern Guangdong Province walked out on their jobs last week. They are demanding a wage increase of up to 147 U.S. dollars per month. They’re currently paid an average of 220 dollars a month, and say it’s lower than the salaries of workers at other Honda factories in China. Hundreds of workers continued striking at the plant in the town of Foshan on Thursday. The weeklong strike has caused a shortage of auto parts. Honda had to announce, production at its four assembly plants in China would be stopped temporarily. Japan’s second largest auto maker says it’s negotiating with workers, but it’s not certain when production will continue. Article Found At: Wage Dispute Stops Honda Assembly Plants in China ? This shouldn't affect the production of CR-Z's at all, since they're produced at Honda's Suzuka plant. This is the finest assembly factory in Honda's arsenal. It's the same plant that built the S2000 and NSX. Most Chinese auto factories manufacture primarily for the home market and close-by Third World countries.

The article also states that production at its four assembly plants in China would be stopped temporarily.
Due to initial CR-Z sales being much greater than forecast, Honda is already having a difficult time filling the pipeline to Europe and the U.S. They would certainly take whatever action is necessary to keep the Suzuka plant production running without interruption. |
