Default JDM CTR is out - EDM CTR is in

just read over at TOV that Honda is going to discontinue the current JDM Civic Type R or FD2 and replace it with the EDM Civic Type R or FN2...

i think that kinda sucks for the market in Japan b/c they're literally replacing the CTR with a vastly inferior model... the current US-spec Civic Si performs better than the Euro Type R... they even share a very similar engine, Si=K20Z3 - EDM-R=K20Z4...

an interesting question i have is, since they're bringing it to Japan, will the engine be replaced with the superior K20A from the outgoing CTR?? i mean 225hp/159tq with a 9k redline on a 2.0L engine is wayyyyy better than even my '06 Si had (197hp/139tq 8k redline)... i guess more info will be released later... but for now here's what was said over on the other site...

With simultaneous press releases, Honda has announced the death of the FD2 Civic Type R (major sad face here - the FD2 Civic Type R is a superb machine), and a new special Limited Edition of the FN2 Civic Type R in Japan. Neither are available in the USA. You can read each of the press releases below.

Maybe its because they want to clear the stock for the 2012 model?
