The SatNav option in the GT UK model is an older style of the Honda SatNav (ie, it uses DVD for the map, there is no SD option). The dealer couldn't believe they did this since he is driving an 2 year older Civic and that has the newer SD SatNav in it. Also they want to charge £1,700 for just that SatNav option. There was no way I was going to get that.
Instead I've gone for a Parrot 3100LCD HFT which is costing £150 including pro-fitting by specialists (they've already sent the showroom car to them to discover the best positions for installation, I've chosen just at the bottom of the A-Frame pillar on the drivers side). The HFT shows mobile signal strength, caller information and can do hands free dialing, and is of course integrated into the cars stereo for hearing calls better.
I do want SatNav though (I currently have a TomTom GO 930 in the Jazz), but I also just bought an iPhone 4 and am looking at the options of using that as my CR-Z SatNav. After using an internet connected smart phone, I can see the potential flexibility of it. For instance you can get in your car, open google maps, search for any business, and you can press 1 button to transfer the address to the GPS destination. Also you can navigate to someone in your contacts list.
The only down side is having to locate it somewhere on the dash/screen, and having a power cable trailing around the dash.
