Also read $8000 in parts. All that to make it match a Civic Si's performance.
So is this worth a stock civic si which has all the safety and comfort features and less $8000?

good point
some of the performance comes from the weight loss and some comes from parts. but we don't know the extent of the engine work.
so if they only had bolt on parts such as an intake and exhaust along with the 200lb weight loss (stock engine internals), then most of the performace would be from the retune. an ecu flash is essentially "free"... so honda could've made a better ecu map and the car would have more power and the car wouldn't have been much more expensive than it is now. not saying a retune will match a civic si but it will make the cr-z faster without a lot more money right ? (because i think that most of the 8kusd actually goes towards the wheels, coilovers, front sway bar, exhaust, etc) <-- nothing that'll affect the engine too much
and im gonna assume honda didn't do this in the first place because they didn't want the already low mpg to go any lower and they wanted to keep the emissions down.
