You will learn 2 things when you change it yourself. 1) Just because it's not black like old motor oil on the dipstick, doesn't mean it's still good. Take a sample while it's draining and you'll see. 2) When you see all the buildup on the magnetic end of the drain plug, you'll pat yourself on the back for buying a new filter. Remember, that's just the magnetic pieces.
The image shown below...if I did this right is old fluid that looked clear on the dipstick next to new fluid that looked clear in the bottle.

What a great shot. I can even see how the fluid looks yellow on the paper towel but is actually reddish. The fluid on the left how many miles did that have on it. Crush washer is a separate part than the oil ring right
